A Portrait of a Clueless Leader...
This guy's shocked by rising poverty and hunger?

Read: 1 Corinthians 9:11-23
Though I am free from all men, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win the more. —1 Corinthians 9:19
Bible in a year:
1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 9:37-62
1 Samuel 10-12; Luke 9:37-62
A Christian sports reporter was visiting a major league baseball clubhouse. While he was chatting with a Christian player, a team official came by and noticed that they were talking about “Christian stuff” after a tough loss. He scolded the reporter for not talking about the game and then he left. The All-Star pitcher said to the reporter, “Sorry. He just doesn’t get it.”
We live in a world of people who “don’t get it.” They don’t understand that while we strive to be the best at what we do, the most important thing in life is to please God. For the believer, it is for God’s glory and the gospel of Jesus that we play ball, sell insurance, run a printing press, or teach school.
In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul explained that the disciple of Christ should “endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ” (v.12). The goal of the believer is getting the word out about Jesus. “Woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” he said (v.16). One way to do that is to live out a godly lifestyle that prompts others to ask about the hope that is in us (1 Peter 3:15).
Around us are people who think the things of this world are most important. But instead of becoming frustrated at the resistance we meet, our goal should be to advance the gospel by helping others to “get it.”
Dim not, little candle,

Show Jesus through me!

May God make your life a lighted window of Christian example.

Reading 1, Jer 11:18-20
18 Yahweh informed me and I knew it; you then revealed their scheming to me.19 I for my part was like a trustful lamb being led to the slaughterhouse, not knowing the schemes they were plotting against me, 'Let us destroy the tree in its strength, let us cut him off from the land of the living, so that his name may no longer be remebered!'
20 Yahweh Sabaoth, whose judgement is upright, tester of motives and thoughts, I shall see your vengeance on them, for I have revealed my cause to you.

Responsorial Psalm, Psalms 7:2-3, 9-10, 11-12
2 or he will savage me like a lion, carry me off with no one to rescue me.3 Yahweh my God, if I have done this: if injustice has stained my hands,
9 Put an end to the malice of the wicked, make the upright stand firm, you who discern hearts and minds, God the upright.
10 God is a shield that protects me, saving the honest of heart.
11 God is an upright judge, slow to anger, but a God at all times threatening
12 for those who will not repent. Let the enemy whet his sword, draw his bow and make ready;
Gospel, Jn 7:40-53
40 Some of the crowd who had been listening said, 'He is indeed the prophet,'41 and some said, 'He is the Christ,' but others said, 'Would the Christ come from Galilee?
42 Does not scripture say that the Christ must be descended from David and come from Bethlehem, the village where David was?'
43 So the people could not agree about him.
44 Some wanted to arrest him, but no one actually laid a hand on him.
45 The guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees who said to them, 'Why haven't you brought him?'
46 The guards replied, 'No one has ever spoken like this man.'
47 'So,' the Pharisees answered, 'you, too, have been led astray?
48 Have any of the authorities come to believe in him? Any of the Pharisees?
49 This rabble knows nothing about the Law -- they are damned.'
50 One of them, Nicodemus -- the same man who had come to Jesus earlier -- said to them,
51 'But surely our Law does not allow us to pass judgement on anyone without first giving him a hearing and discovering what he is doing?'
52 To this they answered, 'Are you a Galilean too? Go into the matter, and see for yourself: prophets do not arise in Galilee.'
53 They all went home,
Fail-safe wisdom
BUSINESS MATTERS (BEYOND THE BOTTOM LINE) By Francis J. Kong
(The Philippine Star) Updated April 09, 2011 12:00 AM
“Have you ever experienced failures before, Sir Francis?” goes an innocent question from wide-eyed, semi-hypnotized, perhaps highly-inspired college students interacting with me during the Q&A portion of the seminar.
I smile and reply politely. “Of course I have,” while in my mind raced thoughts like, “Are you kidding? Ask my wife and she’s got tons of stories to tell!”
I’ve read countless books and biographies, and I’ve realized that successful people today are successful because they have experienced lots and lots of failures before.
Here’s a collection of quotes on failures:
“Fail. Forward. Fast.” – High-tech exec, Valley Forge, PA
“Fail faster. Succeed sooner.” – David Kelley, founder IDEO
“Fail. Fail again. Fail better.” – Samuel Beckett, Nobel laureate, Literature
“Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill
Whoever Makes the Most Mistakes Wins – title of a book by Richard Farson and Ralph Keyes
“Sam was not afraid to fail.” – David Glass, former CEO of Walmart, on Walmart founder Sam Walton’s most significant success trait
“If people…tell me they skied all day and never fell down, I tell them to try a different mountain.” – Michael Bloomberg (I like this one.)
And a lot of speakers, trainers and even preachers today have used this quote from a basketball legend: “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why
I succeed.” The basketball legend? Michael Jordan.
I find fascinating Tom Peter’s beautiful observation on a famous company, a company my youngest daughter dreams of joining once she graduates in multi-media arts. Listen carefully to his words:
“One of the curious aspects of Pixar’s story is that each of the leaders was, by conventional standards, a failure at the time he came onto the scene. [Animator-superstar, John] Lasseter landed his dream job at Disney out of college – and had just been fired from it. [Tech genius and founding President Ed] Catmull had done well-respected work as a graduate student in computer graphics, but had been turned down for a teaching position and ended up in what he felt was a dead-end software development job. Alvy Ray Smith, the company’s co-founder, had checked out of academia, got work at Xerox’s famous Palo Alto Research Center, and then abruptly found himself on the street. [Steve] Jobs had endured humiliation and pain as he was rejected from Apple Computer; overnight he had transformed from boy wonder of Silicon Valley to a roundly ridiculed has-been.”
Maybe these legends were hungry. Maybe they were angry. But the fact remains that these people who have experienced failures before never allowed their past negative experiences to hinder them from achieving future successes.
Business is always seasonal. Business is always cyclical. Maybe you’ve lost your job. Maybe your business has folded. Maybe you’re far from your targets. But yesterday ended last night, and today is a brand new beginning. Learn from the experience and don’t give up the fight!
Giving up is easier but nothing easy gives you honor and glory.
Welcome adversity, and allow it to work on your character so that you may be prepared to face greater challenges and achieve greater things for God’s glory.

Social media is named aptly so because it's a tool to be social. Unfortunately, there are many amongst us who do the most inane things on Facebook and Twitter that makes you roll your eyes, drop your jaw and sometimes is downright pathetic.
1.People who think their every movement should be announced.
We know you're bored whilst sitting on the toilet. But maybe, instead of tweeting about your bowel movements today, as you always do, maybe you should read about what's happening in the world on Yahoo! News for a change. Likewise, we don't need to know how much milk your "hardworking breasts" lactated for your newborn. True story!
2. People who change their relationship statuses every other week.
Make up your mind - are you single? Are you in a relationship? Is it complicated? It's not too hard
3. People who are in a relationship with their BFF
You might think its so kawaii to be in a relationship with your girlfriend, because you are best friend forever- its NOT! Grow up.
4. Setup Facebook accounts for your 2-year-old kid, or worse, your dog!
We'd like to see the day your dog gets trained to log on to his own Facebook account.
5. Woe is me statuses.
You know those people - ‘my life sucks because my daddy doesn't want to get me a yacht for my birthday' or ‘this is the worse day of my life because my husband cancelled on dinner because he had to work to support my extravagant lifestyle.' Suck it up and stop.
6. Adding People You Don't Know
We're not sure what it is - to up your ‘friends' numbers or to seem like you're friends with the cool kids. When you add somebody, a pop up screen comes on telling you that you should "only send this request if you know him or her personally." How do people miss this disclaimer?
7. Write on a Facebook Wall instead of communicating privately
The driving force behind the success of Facebook is...vanity. People love the idea that others are watching what they're doing. But seriously! We don't need to know what names you call your boyfriend and what you're planning to do to him tonight.
8. Tagging drunken pictures of your friends
Yes, it's funny. But chances are, his boss and his mother are also on Facebook. You don't want to go out for a big one on a weeknight, have to call in sick for work the day after only to have your boss tell you that he's already seen photos of you sh*tfaced crawling in the gutter on Facebook. If you don't want that to happen to you, don't do it to your friends.
9. Children on Facebook
Facebook bans 20,000 kids from their site everyday, and we're glad this is done. Parents need to be more diligent with policing their children on social media, and they should be educated on social media etiquette in school. Sexual predators are nothing to joke about.
10. Animal Farms and Fish Tanks
I have a job, I don't want to feed virtual sheeps. You need to get off your computer and get a life.

Time For A Checkup

Read: 1 Corinthians 11:27-29
Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. —1 Corinthians 11:28
Bible in a year:
Judges 19-21; Luke 7:31-50
Judges 19-21; Luke 7:31-50
Every year I have a physical—that periodic visit to the doctor’s office where I’m poked and prodded, screened and studied. It is something that can be easy to dread, and even to fear. We aren’t sure what the tests will show or what the doctors will say. Still, we know that we need this evaluation to understand our physical well-being and what is needed as we move forward.
The same is true spiritually in the life of the Christ-follower. We need to pause from time to time and reflect on the condition of our hearts and lives.
One place for an important self-study is at the Lord’s Table. Paul wrote to the Corinthians, some of whom were eating in an unworthy manner: “Let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup” (1 Cor. 11:28). In the remembrance of Christ’s death for us, there can be a sobering clarity of thought and understanding, for as we consider the price Jesus paid for us, it is the best time to consider the condition of our heart and our relationships. Then, with honest understanding of our spiritual well-being, we can turn to Him for the grace we need to move forward in His name.
Is it time for your checkup?
Search me, O God, my heart discern;
Try me, my inmost thoughts to learn.
Help me to keep from sin, I pray,
Guarding my mind throughout this day. —Anon.
Self-examination is one test from which no Christian is excused.

When customers inquire
Today's Business Lesson
BUSINESS MATTERS (BEYOND THE BOTTOM LINE) By Francis J. Kong
(The Philippine Star) Updated April 03, 2011 12:00 AM
“Ah, excuse me. Could you tell me if...”
Inquiries are an extremely important source of business for any company. When people call for information, it’s a sure sign that they’re interested in your company’s product or service. Otherwise, why would they take the trouble? But their interest won’t last indefinitely. A quick response gives you the best possible chance of turning the inquiry into a sale.
When people ask about your product or service, they want to know about it right away. The faster you respond, the greater the chance of making a sale.
Tell me whether I am right on track or not: Don’t you hate it when the server in the restaurant looks away and pretends he or she doesn’t see you waving your hands and feet? Don’t you hate it when the front liners are busy gossiping while you wait in line? Don’t you hate it when the phone line is busy all the time? Don’t you hate it when customer service people put you on hold? Don’t you feel like burning their place down when you are passed from one person to another and then put you on hold some more? Don’t you feel anger creeping up your veins just thinking about it?
There’s just something really off about being ignored and not paid attention to by customer service people when we’ve actually intended to give them business.
And then some genius from the company would make a public declaration about how “people have no idea about the volume of inquiries the company has to entertain every day, and that the reason why customers’ calls don’t go through easily is because blah, blah, blah...” with a matching condescending look to boot. When I heard a statement like this, I almost cried. I almost cried over the sheer dumbness of the statement.
Geniuses who come up with such statement should listen to what their clients have to say in return. Oh yes – Customer may have been quiet before, but with the advent of Twitter and Facebook, their voices can now be heard.
And they’re saying this about the voluminous calls and inquiries companies have to deal with everyday: “Is that our problem?
You wanted a lot of business, and now that you’ve got lots of it, deal with it. Don’t go blaming us for calling you. Had your services/product been good and reliable in the first place, then we would not have wasted our valuable time having to call you.” Whew!
These happen when nobody takes customers’ inquiries seriously, or worst, because nobody cared to pick up the phone and answer. You get three important ideas across to customers when you act quickly in handling their inquiries or other requests:
1. You show that you are eager to serve people, and the business they bring you is important.
2. You show that you are interested in them.
3. You suggest that any business they may give your company will be handled efficiently and without a hassle.
These are all-important reasons and platforms for making a sale, retaining a customer and for creating a wonderful buzz for the kind of service you provide. So pick up the phone please and talk to me!
Excellent customer service is simply inconveniencing one’s self for the convenience of others. Respond quickly. Get some more technology or hire more help to respond with greater excellence to customer needs.
This is not just good for business – this is the right thing to do.
